TIL: marketing, commitment & coaches
August 05, 2024
The world of marketing can be chaotic.
You can get lost so easily.
I’ve been running a clothing brand for half a decade and a program for influencers for the majority of that period and I always get amazed by the nuances of each area in digital marketing.
An easy to understand break down of every digital marketing campaign is simple.
You produce Content.
It creates Attention.
Platforms gather Impressions.
You generate Conversions.
It doesn’t make a difference if you are a one-person-army brand owner or a multi-million dollar established influencer.
This break down remains the same.
Most people get lost in the nuances in between of each step.
1) What kind of content do I produce?
2) Where do I post to get my my target audience’s attention?
3) How do I edit this to gather as many impressions as possible?
4) What is the best strategy or “call to action” to generate conversions?
Those are the 4 common questions you can encounter, regardless if you run a business or a personal brand.
The problem is that depending on the method that you are going to do marketing, the answer to those questions changes.
Let me give you an example.
As a person who has been launching memberships and has spent $250K on paid ads, I have no idea how to make an SEO digital marketing campaign work.
I would also probably fail extremely miserably if I tried to run a men’s clothing brand or a marketing campaign for a Venture Capital firm.
My point is that anyone can get lost so easily, regardless if you are a marketer or not.
The world of marketing can be chaotic. Especially when you jump from one marketing method to another.
That’s why talking to people who have been there and have done exactly what you want to achieve is probably your best bet to make your vision come to fruition.
INFLUENCER GROWTH PROGRAM
For years I was running just the monthly version of the Influencer Program.
I was giving the chance to new influencers to “taste” how it feels like to grow your influence.
Everything was great but I wasn’t offering a way to commit to their success.
Looking back it’s one of the things I regret.
It wasn’t until I met one of the greatest group of people I’ve been to this day.
A group called METAL.
The moment I learned what METAL is and what it stands for I immediately knew that this group was a great option for me.
I bought the yearly membership the same day and I met some of the friends and partners I have to this day.
Would I have made the connections, friendships, and progress if I haven’t committed to this group?
Absolutely no.
That made me reconsider how I was running this in my own program.
I started providing the yearly option to all new members of my program and things changed for good.
Did I make a lot more money? Sure.
But in my opinion it’s only because I helped people commit to their dreams to a new level.
Durning the good months and the bad..
During the periods that they felt like it or not..
During the weeks that they have just given up..
The program was there to remind and help them to achieve what they wanted.
This is my friendly reminder to you.
If you are going to start something, regardless of what that may be, commit to it with all your heart.
THINGS I’VE LEARNED
1.
Most coaches suck at marketing.
These days half of my weekly calendar goes to meetings with influencers and membership program owners.
I talk with at least a couple of coaches every week.
But this wasn’t how I started.
As a teenager I was running one of the biggest gaming pages in my country and as an adult I kept stacking marketing experience points with Elcune and Growth Of Influence.
I get confused every time I talk to a coach who is 10 steps ahead of me in the game of life and they have 5th grade level understanding of marketing.
Most people need a coach and most coaches need a marketer.
2.
Every great leader knows history.
In-depth understanding of theories and hands-on experience are both required to succeed in every area of modern day life.
Something that’s overlooked on a profound level is how we got here in the first place.
Regardless of what your “here” looks like.
I still have to find a person that I admire and look up to that I haven’t heard him or her sharing a nuance history lesson.
There are a million different history subjects.
Reading and understanding the 5 to 10 subjects that will help you understand your reality in a better extend is one of the best longterm investments a person can make in my opinion.
GROW YOUR INFLUENCE
Don’t listen to people who don’t have what you want.
Regardless of how much you like them or how professional they appear, if someone doesn’t have what you want, taking their advice will most likely do more harm than good.
to your growth and influence,
