TIL: mistakes, overwhelm & growth
Documenting your mistakes may be the most important thing you do in your entire business career to make more money.
After investing for the second time in another company which eventually closed, that experience was so painful that I realized I couldn’t keep repeating the same mistakes.
I had anxiety attacks for the next 12-18 months over the decisions I’ve made.
I had to find a way to learn from these experiences.
Within the next three months, I started working closely with influencers with the intention of documenting the things I was doing, what I was thinking, and the problems I was facing at that time.
I always thought the concept of writing a book or a guide, where once a day I’d write what influencers and entrepreneurs were dealing with, would have been incredibly valuable.
I began documenting my mistakes and successes.
An interesting thing happened from that point until now: I haven’t lost a company again.
I’ve been in business for 6 years, but I lost everything about the halfway point twice. Learning the right lessons from my mistakes has been one of the largest contributing factors to my progress.
Whether you document through video, podcast, or written form, the method doesn’t matter.
I’ve done all.
I started by just recording myself explaining the lessons I got out of books, but the ideas for these videos came from the notes I had with myself.
Every week, I’d work on some of the most valuable ideas I have. Notes and documents containing reflections and key learnings from my journey.
This practice allowed me to have crystallized decision-making power in the future because I could recognize patterns and avoid previous pitfalls.
Entrepreneurship can be like a video game. With levels.
Once you’ve navigated certain levels, you can move through them quickly, knowing where the challenges are and how to overcome them.
This efficiency in movement, avoiding mistakes, and recognizing opportunities is crucial for business growth.
By documenting what I’ve done, I’ve developed an asset that helps me remember why something worked, allowing me to increase the likelihood of success in new situations.
Nowadays, I document publicly through these letters or my guides, but the primary benefit is for my future self. It allows me to reference my past struggles, beliefs, and successes.
This practice is like having a time machine, enabling me to go back to periods when I was winning and understand the mindset that led to success.
Many business owners make mistakes but learn the wrong lessons from them.
The idea that it is worse to be successful and not know why than to fail and know why correctly resonated with me.
A lot.
It took me years to figure out why my early success with Elcune was so significant.
Initially, I attributed it to my skills, but external factors like cheap Facebook ads played a crucial role.
Understanding these nuances helped me evolve the Influencer Growth Program from an arbitrage business to one based on execution.
Avoiding mistakes and learning the right lessons is vital for faster progress.
For example, when I decided to throw myself into the trenches and started working with influencers on a daily basis, I encountered many challenges because I lacked experience in content growth.
Reflecting on these experiences, I realized the importance of having the right team and not spreading resources too thin.
In summary, documenting your business mistakes and successes is a powerful tool for long-term success.
It helps in making informed decisions, avoiding repeated mistakes, and understanding the true factors behind success.
By learning from both your own experiences and those of others, you can navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship and content creation more efficiently and effectively.

THINGS I’VE LEARNED
1.
What is “Overwhelm”?
A lot of demand on what to do,
and little clarity on how to do it.
Do you need an action plan to overcome overwhelm every time?
When you feel overwhelmed
1) Acknowledging that there is a lot of demand, and that’s okay.
2) Take a deep breath.
3) Acknowledge that there is little clarity (at the moment).
4) Create an action plan for the next 30 minutes.
5) Take the simplest step forward on the list. Just 5 clicks on your laptop or 10 taps on your phone will create the momentum you want.
Before you know it, you will have conquered this feeling and your next goal on top of that.
2.
3 brave questions to ask your partner.
1 – What is something you have been telling me that’s important to you that I keep missing or overlooking?
2 – What is something you need from me that I struggle to give to you?
3 – What is something you feel I haven’t fully accepted about you? — Vienna Pharaon
